More about Cros Parantoux

Vosne Romanee is the greatest Pinot Noir village on earth, according to Clive Coates. This is where the great vineyards of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and other superstar grand crus are located. Their premier crus are similarly famed wines to be reckoned with. Its wines are rich, perfumed, long aging and scarce (needless to say, incredibly expensive).

Of the premier crus, the most renowned is that of Cros Parantoux. This is where the legendary Henri Jayer produced his greatest wines. It is premier cru only in name because its standard easily matches, if not surpasses, that of the greatest grand cru. There is only slightly more than one hectare of vineyards in all of Cros Parantoux. To make life even simpler, there are only two owners, Emmanuel Rouget, who inherited his holdings from Henri Jayer, and Meo-Camuzet. Therefore, Cros Parantoux can only be found in 3 labels, Henri Jayer (for the vintages from 1978 to 1999), Emmanuel Rouget and Meo-Camuzet.

The wine of Cros Parantoux is full, powerful, rich, oaky and splendidly concentrated. It is built to last and when mature, it is velvety, mellow and exotic. For wine connoisseurs, this is a “must have” and “must drink” burgundy.
